Questions with Max: Productive Mornings

Where do you fit in exercise time? What makes a productive morning?

I'm a big believer in shaping your environment to make good habits easier and bad habits harder.  For example, my scotch is tucked away in one of our cabinets so I can't visually see it every day.  Our home gym is right in the middle of our downstairs so I'm literally walking past it probably 15 - 20 times a day.  I'll share a photo below, but I'm typically the first one awake and my workouts are one of the first things that get knocked out.  That way, I have one less thing to cloud my thoughts during the day.  For me, a productive morning starts 10 hours before I wake up. Before bed, I'll spend about 30 minutes planning the next day.  I'll wake up at 5:45am wearing a fresh set of workout clothes and then go downstairs and shoot a tbsp of apple cider vinegar. Then I'll stand in front of my red light therapy panels for about 15 minutes.  Next, I'll spend the next 25 - 30 minutes doing a workout with very little breaks.  In the shower, I'll sit silently with the tasks that I planned the night before. While I'm getting ready...the only thing I think about is what I'm grateful for right now in the moment, which usually makes me think of 1 person.  I try to take the time to reach out to that person by sending an audio message or a simple text.  By 7am, I've knocked out a series of "easy wins", which primes me to feel like I have momentum.  THIS is my secret weapon to getting a lot done in the day...starting with momentum and attacking your day.  Oh yea...here's a photo I just snapped of our gym.  I don't own any nice watches or shoes or clothes...but one of the few things I splurge on is workout equipment.
